A little more about our Foundations Course. These sessions are exclusive to new members and are offered every two weeks. During these four progressive classes, you will learn everything you need to start with confidence!

The 2-Week Course Includes:

  • (4) Kickboxing Foundations group classes to learn the basics of kickboxing, common exercises, class format, and have time to ask questions.
  • (1) Free general Group Kickboxing class after you complete your 2 weeks.

How much are your memberships?

When looking for a new gym you want to make sure it’s a good fit. What are some key factors to consider:

  • Mission and alignment with your values
  • Community (are these your people?)
  • The vibe (does it feel good to be in the space?)
  • The movement (do you like the movement?)
  • Schedule (does it fit with your schedule?)
  • Cost (does it fit in your budget?)

Making sure a membership fits within your budget is important but make sure you are considering the other factors as well. Schedule a free consult with one of our coaches to review the options.

What’s the difference between the Kickboxing Foundations Course and the Intensive 90-Minute Course?

Both courses are exclusive to new members so you can get started in a comfortable environment. If possible, we recommend the full Foundations Course to get the full experience especially if you like to learn at a slower pace. The Intensive course is good if you need a different option for your schedule and you’re comfortable learning a lot of information in one larger block of time. 

What happens after I finish my intro session?

After you complete one of our intro session options, you’ll be ready to join our community! All members have a monthly plan which you can choose at any point during your intro course.

What if I’ve done kickboxing before?

If you’ve done kickboxing before and you are familiar and comfortable performing basic kickboxing and exercise movements, you have the option to start with our KUMA Orientation.

Previous experience means that you are comfortable with the following: jab, cross, hook, uppercut, front kick, roundhouse, and squats. The Foundations Course is still a great option especially if you love learning more about technique or if you’re nervous to start at a new studio.

What if I can’t make it to all of the Kickboxing Foundations classes?

We ask that you are able to commit to at least half of the classes. If you’re unable to make it to one of your Foundations classes, we will offer you a complimentary credit in a regular class.

I have some previous experience—can I skip the Foundations Course?

All new members at KUMA are required to enroll with an introduction session. If you have previous experience, you can start with our KUMA Orientation. Your previous experience should mean that you are comfortable with the following: jab, cross, hook, uppercut, front kick, roundhouse, and squats.

The Foundations Course is still a great option especially if you love learning more about technique or if you’re nervous to start at a new studio.

Do you allow drop-ins?

Our mission is to create a positive and comfortable experience for new women which is why we have designed the required enrollment options listed above. We don’t offer drop-in classes.

Am I too young/old for this workout?

Never—we have members from 18-80. Our coaches will provide moderations to every workout! This is a great program that parents and children can do together. Families that train together, stick together.

Do I need previous experience?

No. In fact, we love working with new members. Our coaches will guide you every step of the way to ensure you are doing the techniques properly.

Do I need to be in shape?

Definitely NOT. Most of our new members are either starting or getting back into the journey of fitness. Our coaches will work with you to build an effective and manageable plan.

You feel it as soon as you walk in the door: this is a place of support, true non judgement, community and empowerment. A lot of places can say/try to sell you a lot of things (and I've tried more than a few of them), but KUMA is the genuine article. The coaches are phenomenal; they're supportive and 100% mentally and emotionally present before, during and after class if you've got something on your mind or have questions about a combo or technique. The classes are the stuff workout dreams are made of; the combos change, new techniques are introduced with careful & mindful instruction, and the music? SOLID JAMS. The people working out alongside you? They're super friendly, welcoming and offer both emotionally intelligent and practical advice for newbies. I'd been hunting and hoping to find a place like this, and it's worth every penny. Even if you've had the love of movement kicked or beaten out of you --- give KUMA a chance to help you rediscover it. It's quite literally the dojo of my dreams. <3 <3 <3
