What inspired you to join KUMA?

I was looking for something to get me moving! I have a sedentary job and felt like I needed to do something. I do not enjoy exercising at home and do not know my way around a gym, so my search for an exercise class began. I had done cardio-kickboxing in the past and I liked it so I thought KUMA might be something good to try.

What keeps you coming back?

The welcoming people, the upbeat coaches, clean environment, and super fun classes! When I leave a class, I feel stronger, happier, and grateful that I found KUMA.

What challenges have you faced in your fitness journey and how have you overcome them?

The challenge for me is staying motivated when life gets in the way… work, appointments, not feeling well, etc. I don’t like being too busy with no downtime in my day, but I’ve learned that there is such a thing as good busy. Taking the time to take care of myself positively influences the rest of my life.

What is your favorite workout or activity at KUMA and why?

I’ve only done the basic kickboxing workouts so far but love it when a new combo comes up that just feels so good doing it!

How has the community at KUMA influenced or supported you?

I appreciate that the community is filled with women of all ages and all sizes. Everyone can workout at their own pace with their own power. Being surrounded by women that are positive and proactive in self care feels amazing to be a part of.

What advice would you give to someone just starting their fitness journey?

Keep going, YOU are worth it!

Is there a fellow member or a coach at KUMA who has been particularly supportive or inspirational to you? Give them a shoutout! Tell us how they’ve made a positive impact on your journey.

I’m not the most outgoing person, plus it’s hard to talk to people when we’re punching and kicking 😁 but slowly, I’ve enjoyed getting to know fellow members and coaches. Everyone is so friendly.

Fun Fact: Tell us something fun or unexpected about yourself – any hobbies, talents, or surprising stories?

I got married this summer!
